Denmark

Denmark is a European country founded in 1849. It has a population of 5,8 million people. It is governed by the Jesuits and the House of Glücksburg that also rules Norway and Greece. Its most populous city and capital is Kopenhagen. It is a member of the United Nations and the European Union. It has the 34th largest GDP in the world.

History of Denmark

1589 Anne of Denmark (Oldenburg) marries James VI Stuart King of Scotland and Britain.

1592 Sigismund III (Vasa) King of Poland rules Sweden and Finland and supports the jesuits.

1618 Thirty Years' War between Protestants and Catholics. Frederick V and Christian IV Oldenburg are defeated. Gustav II wins the Battle of Breitenfeld.

1648 Frederick III Oldenburg, married to Sophie of Brunswick-Lünenburg (House of Hanover) as king of Denmark.

1661 Osu Castle in Ghana, as a port for the African slave trade (later named after Franz Xavier, Superior General of the jesuits).

1746 Frederick V, married to Louise Brunswick (House of Hanover) as king of Denmark.

1766 Charles of Hesse Kassel (son of Frederick II who worked with Mayer Rothschild) marries Louise of Denmark.

1821 Hans Orstedt, brother of prime minister Anders Orstedt, discovers the principles of electromagnetism.

1825 founding of House of Glücksburg, as branch of the House of Oldenburg.

1863 Christian IX (Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg).

1864 war with Prussia (Otto von Bismarck).
