Emanuel Swedenborg
Emanuel Swedenborg was a Swedish freemason, kabbalist and scientist who in 1741 developed his 'Heavenly Doctrine', similar to Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, based on apocalyptic predictions in the Book of Revelation. His father Jesper Swedenborg was professor of theology at Uppsala University. He lived in the house of Erik Benzilius the Younger, a priest who played a role in the Swedish Enlightenment. |
