Hilly Kristal

Hilly Kristal  was a Russian jewish concert promoter, trained by US Marine to promote the cultural marxist program Punk Rock (aimed at white teenagers) through club CBGB's in East Village NY.  He worked for the Village Vanguard club of Max Gordon and Lorraine Stein in Greenwich Village. The Village Vanguard was used to promoted the CIA controlled folk (The Weavers) and Beatnik scene and from 1957 the jazz scene of Miles Davis, Horace Silver, Bill Evans, John Coltrane, Stan Getz, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus (treated at Bellevue Hospital like the Beatniks),.. In 1966 he founded the Rheingold Central Park Music Festival (Kris Kristofferson, Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Marley, The Beach Boys), sponsored by Rheingold Beer. 

His father was named Shammai like the Mishnah scholar.

In 1973 (year of opening of the Twin Towers) he founded CBGB's to promote CIA bands The Ramones (movie Rock'n'Roll High School of Roger Corman), Dead Boys,  Life's Blood (Knight of Columbus Jason O'Toole), Velvet Underground (Lou Reed and Andy Warhol, promoting use of heroin, like Aleister Crowley), the Stooges (androgynous Iggy Pop, Columbia), Debbie Harry, Madonna, The Damned, The Police (Sting), Eric Emerson (gay agenda), Talking Heads and Patti Smith (Columbia-Arista of Clive Davis, with Robert Mapplethorpe part of the gay agenda).

In the 80s it promoted NY Hardcore scene with Youth of Today (Straight Edge), Sick of it All, Agnostic Front, Beastie Boys and Bad Brains (Rastafari cult).

It also promoted the Goth scene through the weekly Alchemy events.
From 2001 it hosted an annual Woody Guthrie Birthday Bash.
