Joni Mitchell
| Joni Mitchell (Roberta Joan Anderson) is a Canadian-American mind controlled folk singer, used in the music industry as part of the CIA controlled 60's counterculture of Laurel Canyon and Greenwich Village New York. Her father worked for the Canadian Air Force. She was signed to Reprise, Asylum and Geffen of David Geffen. She started performing at the Club 47 in Cambridge (close to MIT, opened in 1958), where Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Suzanne Vega also performed. Albert DeSalvo (the Boston Strangler, hypnosis with William Joseph Bryan of MK Ultra) murdered his victims close to Club 47. |  |
The Cambridge folk scene was a forerunner of the Greenwich Village and Laurel Canyon project. She lived near CIA base Lookout Mountain. Her career was launched by Andy Wickham (Van Morrison, Gram Parsons) and Fred Weintraub, the owner of The Bitter End and promotor of Lenny Bruce, Randy Newman (University High School), Frank Zappa, Woody Allen, George Carlin, Dustin Hoffman and Bob Dylan. He became executive vice-president of Warner Bros in 1970.
Like other Laurel Canyon acts Jim Morrison, Nico, Bob Dylan and Haight-Ashbury actors Allen Ginsberg, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin she lived at Hotel Chelsea.
She wrote songs for Chelsea Hotel resident Judy Collins (Vanguard and Elektra Records, worked with Leonard Cohen). Courtney Love covered songs of her. JM like Jayne Mansfield.
She married base player Larry Klein (Bob Dylan, Herbie Hancock, Tracy Chapman).
In 2015 she had a brain aneurysm. She claimed to suffer from Morgellons.
Chelsea resident Kris Kristofferson performed at Joni 75 a Birthday Celebration.
Daniel Levitin (neuroscientist of McGill University, Grateful Dead) assisted on the production of her last album Shine.
