von Sonnenfels was an Austrian-
German Sabbatean
jew, philosopher, president of Academy
of Sciences and freemason
(member of Bavarian Illuminati
lodge Zur Wahren Eintracht with Ignaz von Born). He was the son of
Perlin Lipmann, rabbi of Brandenburg. He was educated at the
University of Vienna. He was a friend of Wolfgang
Mozart and Ludwig
van Beethoven who dedicated Piano Sonata 15 to him. He was a
member of the American Philosophical Society in Pennsylvania with
Marquis de Lafayette, Baron von Steuben, Benjamin
Franklin, Thomas
Jefferson. |
He was one of the architects of the 'enlightened
despote' image of Maria Theresa Habsburg-Lorraine
(married to Francis I, Order of the Garter and Grand Lodge of England)
and her son Joseph II (patron of Mozart,
relationship with Jacob Frank's
daughter).
He had a rivalry with mason/Enlightenment
thinker Ephraim Lessing, friend of Moses
Mendelssohn.
Ignaz von Born was also a Fellow of the Royal Society.
