He played a role in the New Hollywood scene of Dennis Hopper, Curtis Harrington, Roger Corman, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Francis Ford Coppola and the underground film scene of Andy Warhol and George Kuchar (teacher of Courtney Love).
He was funded by jesuit Jean Paul Getty Jr (girlfriend Talitha Pol who died months after Jim Morrison).
In 1954 he made Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome with Marjorie Cameron, Curtis Harrington and Anais Nin. Nin also pushed the gay-lesbian agenda, wrote erotic poems for Olympia Press of Maurice Girodias, underwent psychoanalysis with Freud's colleague Otto Rank and LSD experiments with Oscar Janiger, cousin of Allen Ginsberg.
During the CIA mind control project (hippie counterculture) in Haight-Ashbury San Francisco, he lived in a house at Alamo Square in with Bobby Beausoleil, of the Manson Family cult of Charles Manson, who participated in the 911 Sharon Tate ritual.
In 1967 he declared himself dead in the Village Voice (like Crowley, the death-rebirth ritual of the Aeon of Horus).
He is a friend of James Franco (also part of the gay agenda).
Nicolas Winding Refn made Valhalla Rising as reference to Lucifer Rising.
