W.B. Yeats
William Butler Yeats was an Irish poet, dramatist, occultist and secret service agent. He was a member of the Theosophical Society and the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn (cult of mercury) with Maud Gonne, Sara Allgood, Arnold Bennett, AC Doyle, Bram Stoker, Samuel McGregor Mathers, Edith Nesbitt (Fabian Society) and Aleister Crowley. He founded the Abbey Theatre (Crowley founded the Abbey of Thelema) with help from jesuit John Quinn (who also funded jesuit James Joyce). He was a friend of MI6 agents WH Auden and Stephen Spender (CCF). In 1923 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. He was also a member of The Ghost Club with AC Doyle, Dennis Wheatley, Julian Huxley, Algernon Blackwood, Charles Dickens, Peter Cushing, CEM Joad (Fabian Society, BBC, New Party of fascist Oswald Mosley).
He was influenced by Emanuel Swedenborg and the Symbolists (Stéphane Mallarmé, Arthur Rimbaud,..).
His friend Theosophist George William Russell corresponded with US vice-president Henry Wallace.
John Butler Yeats was buried next to Crowley's girlfriend Jeanne Robert Foster, who corresponded with Ezra Pound.
He had a relationship with Olivia Shakespear who wrote plays with Florence Farr, funded TS Eliot and jesuit James Joyce and whose daughter married Ezra Pound.
The daughter of Yeats' muse Maud Gonne, Iseult Gonne married nazi Francis Stuart. Maud Gonne's husband John MacBride was executed during the Easter Rebellion. Their son Sean MacBride was trained by the jesuits, worked for the UN and founded Amnesty International with Peter Benenson (MI6 cryptography at Bletchley Park) and Quaker Eric Baker.
Delmore Schwartz wrote Dreams Begin Responsibilities based on Yeats' Responsibilities. Leonard Cohen was influenced by Yeats.
